Hi all,
The boys are all tucked up (11pm tonight) after a late night out. So to business . . . Can we start by saying a huge thank you for the replies that are being posted on the blog by all of you reading abroad (yes, the boys have adopted this country and are now truly Americans- many simply aren't planning to come home). I read to the boys the blogs that appeared overnight (including the new 'Points of Note' section) at the start of each day which is clearly acting as the highlight to getting up in the morning- something which isn't easy for a teenage boy as you are all aware.
Now to the day's events:
Sun 30 Sept
7:30am wake up to a very very very impressive buffet breakfast (will get some photos tomorrow morning). Many didn't leave the table until 9am
We then departed for Magic Mountain (27 million roller coasters creating a city in the sky)
After a lite 6.5 hrs riding the madness that was created out of metal, all returned with no adrenaline left for a swim in the hotel pool
Dinner followed on the Universal City strip which again was a source of great variety (you would all be pleased to know all are eating as they have to recount the nature of their meals before Bedtime stories- however the nature of the meals, both quantity and nutritional quantity sometimes leave a little to be desired)
11pm Lights out after a quick pack of the bomb shelled hotel rooms. Again no surprise that clothes are everywhere
Points of Note:
1. Yes, Z Xie stood tall on public transport and rocked out a song that had the public standing around in shock. He is now my absolute hero.
2. Yes, Mr Gordon read the blog and found out about his runner on bicycle payment at Venice Beach. He denied he was even in America when asked by Judge S Perera to explain his reasoning. Of note, Shannon had a wonderful catch up with family tonight organised by the talented Mr Skeen who remembered what the date was today. Skeen is still a muppet though, although the blog editor disagrees
3. Yes, J Pallister purchased a skate board and then asked if a young 6 year old boy could push him around on it, but not too fast, as he was scared of speed (after the Superman ride at Magic Mountain).
4. Yes, F Boswell, J Kenrick, and H Barclay were all up last night (after lights out) trying to do an ab workout ahead of the upcoming beach opportunity. Not surprisingly H Watt, K Esterhuizen and A McDermott were doing the same in their room.
5. Yes, R Lockhart had to throw away a pair of sunglasses after dropping them in a toilet.
6. Yes, M Wallace walked away from the roller coaster after an hour (not too many queues today which was great). Apparently young Matt had got himself ready to ride a certain roller coaster only to realise at the last minute he had been focused on the wrong one and the actual ride now became too much to handle.
7. Yes, M Pogson has been singing "Call Me Maybe" all trip, much to Mr Jordan's frustration.
Final words- Josh and Paddy will be told of their instructions tomorrow- presents on the way for the Carter girls! And to the wonderful Mr and Mrs B. - great to hear from you Scott. We hope all of the Burridge family are well. Rick continues to follow the blogsite since we have left his Pasadena pupils, so we are aware old friends are following. Interestingly Rick pointed out a Yard House in LA which I promise I didn't go to . . .
Well that's it for the day (especially since midnight has well and truly ticked over). Up at 7:30pm for a team run before a day at the beach. Then it's on to Santa Margarita High for round two of billeting. Sleep well if you get to this before NZ bedtime lights go out.
